How to prep your sneakers like a pro

So, you’ve decided to customise your sneakers - good for you! But before you can whip out the paints and patterned stencils, you need to prep your shoes.

How do you prep your shoes? You give them a good clean, of course! We’re not talking a quick wash in the laundry or a brief scrub in the sink, though - a proper deep clean is in order.

You’ll need to grab yourself some shoe cleaner and a shoe brush to start with. Gently scrub the dirt and grime off the outside of your sneakers using the cleaning product and a wet shoe brush. When you’re satisfied enough, take a microfibre towel and wipe away the excess foam and dirt from your shoes. Remember to take out your laces and give them a good long soak in some soapy water while you work on your sneakers!

Once you’ve given your trainers a decent cleaning, you can pop on a deglazer to remove any extra grease, dirt, or shoe finishes that you don’t want. And that’s it - you can now start designing and drawing your customisations!
